To indicate possession Apostrophe का सबसे महत्वपुर्ण व basic use possession यानी स्वामित्व/ अधिकार दर्शाने के लिए किया जाता है। Possession means to own something. We always use an apostrophe to show that a thing or person belongs or relates to someone or something. चाहे किसी व्यक्ति (या वस्तु) की quality की बात हो या उसकी किसी वस्तु के बारे में बताना हो, किसी भी प्रकार के स्वामित्व (possession) को दर्शाने के लिए apostrophe का use किया जाता है • Sam's daughter is very cute. (सैम की बेटी बहुत प्यारी है।) • Nancy's father's car is very nice. (नैन्सी के पिता की कार बहुत अच्छी है।) • Yesterday's weather was very harsh. (कल का मौसम बहुत कठोर था।) • I need a week's time to finish this report. (इस रिपोर्ट को समाप्त करने के लिए मुझे एक सप्ताह का समय चाहिए।) With Contractions Contractions ऐसे शब्दों को कहा जाता है जो दो शब्दों को जोड़ कर बनाए जाते हैं। Usually, contractions form करने के लिए एक या एक से ज़्यादा letters/alphabets को omit किया जाता है और इन omitted letters के स्थान पर apostrophe का use किया जाता है। some general contractions are:
