We talked about 'prepositions of place' in our previous blogs and now we'll move a step further and learn about 'PREPOSITIONS OF DIRECTION' जिस तरह place prepositions हमे सटीक स्थान की जानकारी देती हैं उसी तरह 'prepositions of direction' हमें किसी वस्तु या व्यक्ति की direction यानी दिशा के बारे में बताती हैं। Prepositions of direction show us to where or in which direction something moves. कुछ prepositions of direction का origin basic place prepositions (जैसे कि in, on, etc.) से ही हुआ है और इसलिए यह आपको direction के साथ साथ location या final position की भी जानकारी देती हैं। Example: • INTO (movement inside an enclosed space or place) • ONTO(moving on top of the surface of something) Let's learn about PREPOSITIONS OF PLACE in detail:   DOWN = from a higher to a lower point of something (ऊपर से नीचे की ओर आना) • She slipped while coming down the stairs.(सीढ़ियों से नीचे आते हुए वह फिसल गयी)   UP = from low to high (नीचे से ऊपर की ओर जाना) • Your cat climbed up that tree.(आपकी बिल्ली उस पेड़ पर चढ़ गई है )   INTO = to enter/move inside of an enclosed place (बाहर से भीतर की ओर यानी अंदर जाना) • He suddenly came into the room.(वह अचानक से कमरे में आ गया)   ONTO = To move on top position (or surface) of a place or thing (किसी स्थान या किसी वस्तु की ऊपरी सतह पर जाना) • The cat jumped onto the bed.(बिल्ली बिस्तर पर कूद गई)   OFF = To move away from something, usually in a downward direction (दूर चले जाना या नीचे उतर आना ) • I will get off the train at the next station.(मैं अगले स्टेशन पर ट्रेन से उतर जाऊंगा।)   OVER = To cross something by going above it, usually from one side to another (किसी चीज़ के ऊपर से होकर एक तरफ से दूसरी तरफ जाना) • You have to jump over the fence.(आपको दीवार के ऊपर से कूदना होगा)   TOWARDS = move in the direction of something (किसी स्थान की ओर जाना) • I saw him going towards the shop.(मैंने उसे दुकान की ओर जाते देखा।)   AGAINST = to go in the opposite direction (विपरीत दिशा में जाना) • It is difficult to swim against the flow of water.(पानी के प्रवाह के विपरीत तैरना मुश्किल होता है) Learn more about prepositions from our other blogs: Prepositions of PLACE Prepositions of TIME Common Prepositions Mistakes Don’t forget to download our English learning app Namaste English.
