Phrasal Verbs are a little bit tricky and difficult to learn. Today we’ll learn about phrasal verbs that use the Preposition: OFF REad on! LIVE OFF Refers to the source of income or money (आय या धन का स्रोत) • Due to illness, he has been living off his wife's earnings for some time now. (बीमार होने के कारण वह पिछले कुछ समय से अपनी पत्नी की कमाई पर रह रहा है।) CALL OFF To cancel something (रद्द करना) • The match was called off due to rain. (बारिश के कारण मैच रद्द कर दिया गया।) PUT OFF To postpone or avoid something (स्थगित करना या टालना ) • I had put off the meeting for some reasons. (मुझे कुछ कारणों से बैठक को स्थगित करना पड़ गया।) LAY OFF To discharge/ dismiss workers from their jobs (कर्मचारियों की छंटनी करना/ काम से निकालना) • Our company laid off around 300 workers this year. (हमारी कंपनी ने इस वर्ष लगभग 300 कर्मचारियों को काम से निकाल दिया।) NOD OFF To fall asleep (सो जाना) • Sam nodded off during the class. (Sam कक्षा के दौरान सो गया।) RIP (someone) OFF To steal or swindle (चोरी करना या ठगना) • Expensive designer labels are just ways to rip people off. (महंगे डिज़ाइनर लेबल्स केवल लोगों को ठगने के तरीके हैं।) PAY OFF To yield benefits or successful results (लाभ या सफल परिणाम प्राप्त होना) • I am sure that your hard work and efforts will pay off. (मुझे विश्वास है कि आपकी कड़ी मेहनत और प्रयास का सफल परिणाम मिलेगा।) TIP OFF To inform or warn someone in a confidential manner (गुप्त ढंग से आगाह करना या चेतावनी देना) • The terrorists were arrested after being tipped off by the police informer.
