सबसे पहले जानते हैं Idioms का अर्थ क्या है?
IDIOM: A group of words that instead of a literal meaning, has a figurative one.
एक मुहावरे में कहे जाने वाले शब्दों का वास्तविक अर्थ से कोई लेना-देना नहीं होता है, बल्कि शब्दों के पीछे के प्रचलित अर्थ को समझ जाता है। You should never go by the literal meaning of the words in an idiom as it won't make any sense and you'll be left super confused. For example:
KICK THE BUCKET= Idiom used for someone who dies.
• He kicked the bucket last night ⇒ He died last night.
( यहाँ कोई वास्तविकता में bucket को kick नही कर रहा है )

Here I have a list of idioms that are inspired by the color BLACK. Read on to learn.
♦ BACK OF THE BLACK STUMP
An extremely remote, isolated, and/or uncivilized location.( एक अत्यंत दूरदराज, अलग-थलग, और / या असभ्य स्थान )
• Many Indian villages are still situated at the back of the black stump and do not have even the basic life facilities.
• कई भारतीय गाँव अभी भी इतने दूर दराज़ के इलाकों में स्थित हैं कि वहां बुनियादी जीवन की सुविधाएं भी उपलब्ध नहीं हैं।
♦ BLACKOUT
This has two meanings:
1. Absence of electricity or lights ( बिजली न होने के कारण अँधेरा हो जाना )
• After the big short circuit last night, the city was blacked out for 5 hours.
• कल रात के बड़े शॉर्ट सर्किट के बाद पूरे शहर में 5 घंटे के लिए अँधेरा छाया रहा।
2. To lose consciousness ( बेहोश हो जाना )
• He blacked out because of the harsh sunlight.
• कठोर धुप के कारण वह बेहोश हो गया।
♦ BLACK SHEEP OF THE FAMILY
Someone who is a disgrace to the family (जो व्यक्ति परिवार के लिए शर्मिंदा होने का कारण हो)
• After she went to the jail, Jane became the black sheep of the family.
• जेल जाने की वजह से Jane पुरे परिवार के लिए शर्म का कारण बन गयी ।
♦ TO BLACKBALL SOMEONE
To ostracize someone or to socially reject someone ( किसी को बहिष्कृत करना या सामाजिक तौर पर अस्वीकार करना )
• Due to her unethicalbehaviour, she was blackballed by everyone in the office.
• उसके अनैतिक व्यवहार के कारण, कार्यालय में हर किसी ने उसका बहिष्कार कर दिया।
♦ IN BLACK AND WHITE
To oversimplify something or to judge everything as either good or bad( अत्यधिक आसान बनाना या हर वास्तु को सिर्फ अच्छा या सिर्फ बुरा कहना )
• There is nothing as black and white in this world as it seems to be.
• इस दुनिया में कुछ भी इतना आसान नही है जितना देखने में लगता है।
♦ A BLACK-TIE AFFAIR
A formal event where guests are supposed to wear a perfect formal attire (एक अत्यंत औपचारिक समारोह जहां मेहमानों को एक आदर्श पोशाक पहन कर जाना होता है)
• I have to buy a new tuxedo as my boss' retirement party is going to be a black-tie affair.
• मुझे एक नया tuxedo ख़रीदना है क्योंकि मेरे boss की सेवानिवृति की party का आयोजन एक औपचारिक समारोह होगा।
♦ BLACK FRIDAY
Any day of major financial chaos or disaster (वित्तीय अराजकता या आपदा का दिन)
(refers specifically to September 24, 1869, when US gold market experienced a historical financial crisis)
• Yesterday was a 'Black Friday' for our company as we recorded the lowest sales in last ten years.
• कल का दिन हमारी company के लिए 'Black Friday' रहा क्योंकि हमने पिछले दस साल का न्यूनतम विक्रय record किया।
♦ BLACK GOLD
Another name for petroleum because of its color and high value.(भूतेल का दूसरा नाम)
• Harry became extremely rich after he found the black gold in Dubai.
• दुबई में काला सोना यानी पेट्रोल की खोज करने के बाद Harry बहुत अमीर बन गया।
♦ POT CALLING THE KETTLE BLACK (shorter version: pot kettle black)
it's used in a situation when someone accuses another person of something he has done himself.
• The manager scolded Sam for coming late to the office even though he himself never comes on time. It's like pot was calling the kettle black.
• Manager ने Sam को office में देर से आने पर डांटा जबकि वह खुद कभी वक़्त पर नही आते।
♦ BLACK AND BLUE
Describes something that is badly hurt or bruised (बुरी तरह से चोट लगना या चोट लगने के कारण नीला पड़ जाना)
• Tina's foot got black and blue after she fell down the stairs.
• टीना का पैर सीढ़ियों से गिरने पर लगी चोट के कारण नीला पड़ गया ।
