WITH BATED BREATH Meaning:  एक घबराहट व बेचैनी वाली या उत्साहित भावना के साथ किसी चीज़ के होने का इंतज़ार करना। If you wait for something with bated breath, you feel very excited while you are waiting. इस phrase का सबसे प्रारंभिक ज्ञात उद्धरण शेक्सपियर के 'Merchant of Venice (1596 )' से है। Bated comes from the word ‘Abated’ which means ‘to bring down, lower or depress’ (कम करना, रोक-थाम करना ) • Rahul is waiting with bated breath for the results. (राहुल अपनी परीक्षा के परिणाम का बहुत बेचैनी से इंतज़ार कर रहा है।) • He was waiting with bated breath for the reply to his offer. (मुझे विश्वास नहीं हो रहा है कि तुमने अपने पिता तुम्हे एक गाड़ी दिलाने के लिए मना लिया; यक़ीनन तुम अपनी बात मनवाने की कला जानते हो।) AT THE ELEVENTH HOUR Meaning: At the last possible moment or opportunity जब किसी कार्य को ऐन मौके पर यानि बिलकुल अंतिम समय या क्षण में किया जाए, तब इस phrase का use किया जाता है। If someone does something at the eleventh hour, they do it at the last possible moment. घड़ी में 12 बजे का समय एक तरह से परिवर्तन दर्शाता है, जैसे कि सुबह से दोपहर (am to pm) या फिर एक तिथि से दूसरी तिथि । That's why it’s considered that the 12th hour of the day marks the end of a certain time frame. This, in turn, makes the 11th hour (idiomatically) as the last possible moment to complete doing something within the given time limit. • The PM didn't disclose his decision till the eleventh hour. (प्रधानमंत्री ने अंतिम क्षण तक अपने फैसले का खुलासा नहीं किया।) • They postponed his trip at the eleventh hour.
