One of the most difficult aspects of learning a foreign language is when you have to deal with PRONUNCIATION. Oh, so difficult PRONUNCIATION! English words की pronunciation में गलती कर बैठना बहुत ही आम बात है क्यूंकि यह हमारी native language नहीं है। पर इसका अर्थ ये नहीं की हम सही pronunciation को सीखें भी नहीं। आज हम बात करेंगे कुछ बहुत ही simple और common की। The -ed ending verbs किसी verb के अंत में -ed तब लगाया जाता है जब हम उसे past tense यानि भूतकाल में लिखते हैं। -ed ending words का pronunciation दो तरह से किया जाता है: Pronounced as 'id' जब किसी verb का अंत 'd' या 't' से होता है, वहां -ed का pronunciation 'id' यानि इद की तरह किया जाता है। For example: Needed: नीड + इड = नीडिड Folded: फोल्ड + इड = फोल्डिड Wanted: वॉन्ट + इड = वॉन्टिड Painted: पेंट + इड = पेंटिड Pronounced as 'd' अन्य सभी verbs के लिए, 'ed' को 'ड' की तरह उच्चारित किया जाता है। After some consonants, it will come out sounding more like ‘t’. सुनने में आपको कभी 't' का sound भी आ सकता है लेकिन यह सिर्फ कुछ शब्दों के साथ ही होता है जैसे की: laughed, missed, kissed, etc. Other than that, this is how 'ed' is pronounced as 'd' Amazed = अमेज़्ड Called = कॉल्ड  Honoured = ऑनर्ड Cleaned = क्लीन्ड The '-th' sound 'th' का उच्चारण तीन प्रकार से किया जाता है:

This = दिस	Three = थ्री
Those = दोज़	Thing = थिंग
Though = दो	Thought = थॉट
Mother = मदर	Thunder = थंडर
Father = फादर	Thorn = थॉर्न

  कुछ words में 'th' को 't' की तरह भी pronounce किया जाता है: Thames = टेम्ज़/  टेम्स Thai = टाइ हालाँकि यह इतना common नहीं है लेकिन 'th' का यह उच्चारण करते समय ध्यान रखें कि यहाँ 't' का sound 'ट' और 'ठ' के बीच का है। 'I' sound problems English alphabet 'I' के pronunciation में भी लोग अक्सर बहुत confused रहते हैं । Non-native English speakers tend to get confused between short and long sounds of 'I' आइये देखते हैं कुछ ऐसे pair of words जिनके उच्चारण में most of the times confusion हो जाती है:

short 'I' = इ	confused with ई
Lid = लिड	Lead = लीड
Live = लिव	Leave =  लीव
Sit = सिट	Seat = सीट
Hit = हिट	Heat = हीट
Pill = पिल	Peel = पील

The only way to master this one is to practice as much as you can. Magical '-e' बहुत सारे शब्द ऐसे होते हैं जिनके अंत में '-e' लगाने से न सिर्फ शब्द का अर्थ बदल जाता है, बल्कि उसकी pronunciation भी पूरी तरह से change हो जाती है। Not = नॉट Note = नोट Magical e की खासीयत यह है की खुद silent रहकर यह शब्द के उच्चारण को बदल देता है। Adding an 'e' affects the pronunciation of 'i' in a word and makes it sound like an 'eye'.
